Cardinal Santos Medical Center or previously known as St. Paul's Hospital was founded by Maryknoll Sisters before World War II (1939-1945). CSMC was one of the several buildings destroyed by Americans during World War II. Eventually in 1970s, with the help of Manila's archdiocese, the hospital opened its door again to public. It was named after Manila Archbishop Rufino Santos.
